steinexpo 2023 - Press Release 4

Technical and conceptual partnership extended to include IMA Europe

Unleashing potential with pooled strength

July 2022: The Industrial Minerals Association (IMA) Europe is becoming the new steinexpo partner. The Industrial Minerals Association Europe and steinexpo have now agreed that IMA Europe will be the new technical and conceptual partner of steinexpo with immediate effect.

The new partnership will strengthen and massively expand the international orientation of steinexpo. The reason is that IMA Europe will actively encourage its members throughout Europe to participate in the steinexpo 2023 and to attend the event. This is an important step toward making the unique demonstration fair even more visible across national borders. It is especially in times like these that it seems all the more important to look at common values and goals in Europe and internationally, examine ways to pool strengths to promote the use of existing potential and opportunities in a targeted manner and implement shared visions. The new partnership will be a catalyst in bringing the industry together on a much more far-reaching level.

The Industrial Minerals Association (IMA-Europe) is an umbrella organisation that brings together numerous European associations specialising in a wide range of mineral raw materials. Together, the associations represent more than 500 companies in 28 countries.

The partnership(s) under the magnifying glass

IMA-Europe has more than 250 member companies, including 685 mines and quarries and a total of 750 processing companies. This makes IMA-Europe a powerful and decisive EU voice for all producers and importers of industrial minerals. Its mission is to develop a thriving industry sector in the heart of Europe with a simultaneous focus on sustainability and value advocacy. To this end, they are doing their utmost to become a reference industry association representing the industrial minerals sector through sound scientific and fact-based communication with authorities and the broader value chain while becoming a critical node of the global industrial minerals network.

This new partnership expands the circle of renowned and influential steinexpo partners, because steinexpo could already count on the backing of associations at its first event in 1990. It was the BVNI (Association of German Natural Stone Industry), the predecessor association now known as MIRO (Association of German Mineral Raw Materials), who backed this fledgling and at the time completely unusual trade fair in the beginning. The European Aggregates Association (UEPG), the Construction Machinery and Building Material Plant Association of the Association of German Machinery and Plant Manufacturing (VDMA) and the Association of the Construction Industry, Environmental Technology and Mechanical Engineering (VDBUM) later added their support. Emerging from within itself, the trade fair organisers received an additional sounding board through this network, which promoted the steinexpo idea in the raw materials and building materials industry, in recycling, in the construction industry and the world of construction machinery and building material plants. With the entry of the German Demolition Association in 2021, the demolition technology segment was finally fully manifested.

The newly acquired official partnership of steinexpo with IMA-Europe represents another milestone in successful international industry cooperation.

Official voices on the new partnership:

IMA Europe Director General Dr Roger Doome commented as follows:

"IMA-Europe's members have participated and updated us on this event for a long time, and this year we finally decided to join in too. As the decisive EU voice of industrial minerals producers and importers, IMA-Europe couldn't miss this chance to meet with companies, authorities and the broader value chain. We look forward to seeing you all in August, explaining how we are helping and representing industrial mineral companies from Brussels."

Dr Friedhelm Rese, Managing Director of Geoplan and steinexpo trade fair manager also expressed his appreciation:

"The new partnership with the Industrial Minerals Association (IMA) Europe will significantly increase the international 'radiance' of the steinexpo. At the same time, it also shows that the many efforts to internationalise the demonstration fair are proving successful."

steinexpo: : As the biggest and most significant stone quarry demonstration exhibition on the European continent, the steinexpo had its premiere in the Nieder-Ofleiden stone quarry in September 1990. The trade fair is held in a three-year cycle. By means of impressive live demonstrations against the backdrop of a magnificent stone quarry, manufacturers and dealers of building and processing machinery, utility vehicles and heavy vehicles as well as plants for the extraction and treatment of materials put their performance capabilities on display. The recycling of mineral building materials represents another focus point. The steinexpo is organised by Geoplan GMBH, Iffezheim.
