Confidence in Numbers
In just one month's time, the 12th edition of steinexpo, the largest and most important quarry demonstration trade fair on the European continent, will be in full swing. The signs are encouraging: even before the show opens its gates, steinexpo 2026 already counts 10% more exhibitors than the 2023 edition.
With 328 exhibitors representing more than 400 brands, this XXL live demonstration show has already surpassed the figures achieved at the 11th steinexpo in 2023. At that time, 305 exhibitors from numerous countries gave the exhibition its truly international character. "We are delighted with this result. Naturally, everyone likes to see growth. Following the painful six-year break caused by the pandemic, steinexpo 2023 set an impressive benchmark with 61,700 trade visitors and 305 exhibitors. This outstanding success, built over decades, was more than rewarding for all of us," says Show Director Dominik Rese. Despite the current economic challenges resulting from geopolitical conflicts and their consequences, the organizers believe the outlook for steinexpo remains as positive as it was in 2023. "We have succeeded in attracting more exhibitors and increasing the occupied exhibition space. Preparations are running at full speed, creating the perfect foundation for a successful exhibition," says Dominik Rese. Visitor expectations are slightly more cautious. Geoplan GmbH from Iffezheim, the organizer of steinexpo, expects visitor numbers to remain at a similarly high level as in 2023.
A trailer, the exhibition grounds, and a look into the future
The heart of steinexpo has always been its live demonstrations set against the rugged backdrop of an active quarry. Nowhere else can visitors experience such a wide variety of machines, processing equipment, attachments, and innovative solutions in real working conditions. The general demonstration area on the lowest quarry level, Demo Area A, alone features more than 25 large machines, ranging from the latest crawler excavators and powerful wheel loaders to impressive dump trucks. A first glimpse of these highlights, as well as the unique atmosphere of the exhibition, is provided by the official steinexpo 2026 trailer. With impressive moving images, it builds anticipation and truly gives visitors goosebumps.
Following the logic of an active quarry, no two editions of steinexpo are ever the same. In 2026, visitors entering through the main entrance will first arrive at Demo Area D, (outdoor exhibition area, two exhibition pavilions) including the show management office, and the press centre. Behind that a shuttle bus connects Demo Area D with the upper Demo Area C, while the lower Demo Areas A and B are linked by the popular 14-metre passenger lift, offering spectacular panoramic views along the way. Demo Area A is home to both the live demonstration zone and the mobile equipment operating area. As in 2023, ‘THE TUBE’ located behind Demo Area D, will once again provide the setting for the official opening ceremony, the press conference, and the ‘Exhibitor & Customer Evening’.
Innovations, machine premieres, and new technologies have always been an integral part of steinexpo. The spotlight will once again be on the innovation initiative "Quarry Vision 2.6." Under the motto "Quarry Next Gen – We're In," participating exhibitors will present forward-looking technologies, products, and services directly at their own stands. Special "Quarry Vision 2.6" design elements will guide visitors from the information board at the exhibition entrance to each participating exhibitor. From 12 August 2026, all information will also be available digitally via the steinexpoAPP. Speaking of future technologies, artificial intelligence has also found its way into the building and mineral extraction industries. This development will be highlighted during the official opening ceremony with the keynote "Artificial Intelligence in the Raw and Building Materials Industry – Future Application Scenarios," presented by Prof. Dr. Tobias Vraetz of RWTH Aachen University. Professor Vraetz specialises in teaching and research on technologies for the processing of mineral raw materials.

steinexpo: As the largest and most important quarry demonstration trade fair on the European continent, steinexpo celebrated its premiere in September 1990 at the Nieder-Ofleiden quarry. The fair is held every three years. In impressive live demonstrations set against the backdrop of the quarry, manufacturers and dealers of construction and industrial machinery, commercial vehicles and trucks, as well as systems for raw material extraction and processing showcase their capabilities.
