In just five months, the who’s who of the raw and building materials industry will gather once again at steinexpo 2026 in Nieder-Ofleiden. Preparations for this XXL demonstration trade fair have been running at full speed for quite some time – and already one thing is clear: this industry highlight will impress with optimized processes, a diverse live program, and numerous attractive details. Here is the latest update.
Industry experts agree: 2026 will bring a hot trade fair autumn. It all begins with steinexpo 2026 at its well-established location – Europe’s largest basalt quarry in Nieder-Ofleiden, Northern Hesse. From September 2 to 5, 2026, the extraction site will once again be transformed into Europe’s largest active exhibition quarry. Numerous key players have already secured their individual presentations within this unique setting. “With its unique selling points, steinexpo is one of the most important industry gatherings of the year – both nationally and internationally. Experience the practical use of machines and equipment up close in this one-of-a-kind set-up,” says Dominik Rese, Show Director at the organizing company Geoplan GmbH from Iffezheim.
35-minute demo shows
Set against the extraordinary backdrop of the quarry, live demonstrations of high-performance construction machinery remain the defining feature of steinexpo. For the 2026 edition, the demo sequences have been further optimized to offer even more to both visitors and exhibitors. On the half hour, starting at 10:30 a.m., 35-minute demo shows will present realistic machine combinations in action. In total, more than 20 large machines will be seen in live operation, including new solutions for loading and transport as well as innovative special-purpose machinery. “Of course, steinexpo thrives on its demos. We have made them more compact, giving visitors more time to explore the extensive exhibition grounds at their leisure,” says the Show Director. Currently, more than 200 exhibitors occupy around 52,000 net square meters – trend rising. And there is more: visitors can also look forward to demonstrations of all kinds taking place repeatedly at numerous exhibitor stands.
Seamless mobile network for everyone
In cooperation with Deutsche Telekom, the Geoplan team has once again enhanced the technical infrastructure. It now includes a seamless mobile network – fiber-connected for the first time – ensuring that a steinexpo selfie can be sent in seconds and business emails are on their way just as quickly. Speaking of technology: the official steinexpo app is set to become the ideal companion for visitors, offering practical tips and useful information right in your pocket. The app is expected to launch in August and will be available in the usual app stores.
A culinary concept for all senses
The new culinary concept revives tired trade fair visitors: With a direct view of the live action, the bistro area in Exhibition Pavilion II – including its terrace – is the perfect place to relax and unwind. In the “steinexpoVILLAGE,” numerous food trucks operated by Heilbronn-based caterer Roadbar will offer a wide variety of food and drinks to suit every taste. The impressive quarry backdrop comes as a bonus.
Looking ahead with Quarry Vision 2.6
Following the successful premiere of the “Quarry Vision” innovation area in 2023, the concept returns as “Quarry Vision 2.6” – a direct reference to the event year 2026. Under the motto “Quarry Next Gen – we’re on board!” participating exhibitors will present their innovative, forward-looking technologies, products, and services directly at their stands. Zeppelin Baumaschinen GmbH, for example, will take part with at least two machines – further details remain under wraps for now. Special “Quarry Vision 2.6” design elements will guide visitors from the overview board at the exhibition entrance to the respective participants. All information will also be available digitally via the steinexpoAPP.

steinexpo: As the largest and most important quarry demonstration trade fair on the European continent, steinexpo celebrated its premiere in September 1990 at the Nieder-Ofleiden quarry. The fair is held every three years. In impressive live demonstrations set against the backdrop of the quarry, manufacturers and dealers of construction and industrial machinery, commercial vehicles and trucks, as well as systems for raw material extraction and processing showcase their capabilities.
