steinexpo 2026 - PR 2, A joyful reunion meets anticipation

On-Site Meeting in the Home of steinexpo

A joyful reunion meets anticipation

On May 27 and 28, 2025, around 50 former steinexpo exhibitors and interested companies gathered in Homberg (Ohm)/Nieder-Ofleiden for the traditional on-site  meeting. The aim: to learn about the new site concept for the 12th edition of Europe’s one-of-a-kind quarry demonstration trade fair. Attendees received a first-hand update on what's new for steinexpo 2026 and which proven elements will continue. As always, the highlight was the visit of Europe’s largest basalt quarry – the grand stage of steinexpo.

“Hello again” was the fitting motto for two inspiring days in Nieder-Ofleiden, the home of this exceptional live demo show. At the invitation of GEOPLAN GmbH, the organizer of steinexpo, the event welcomed company from leading exhibiting firms and potential newcomers alike. In the industrial surroundings of Hall 17 in Homberg (Ohm), GEOPLAN Managing Directors Andrea Friedrich and Dominik Rese—who also serves as steinexpo’s Show Director—presented upcoming changes and the current site status.

One aspect of the “facelift” concerns the steinexpo logo: It is now much more modern, dynamic and straightforward – and thus even better aligned with the industry'. A defining feature of the show remains unchanged: spectacular live demonstrations of powerful machinery in a real, working quarry. After the presentation, participants took part in an on-site visit through this ever-evolving landscape. With each new edition, the quarry must be restructured to reflect the ongoing extraction work, making every steinexpo a unique experience.

A Glimpse into 2026…

Just like in 2023, the main entrance for the 2026 show will be located on Demo Area D. This is also where two large exhibition pavilions with attractive indoor spaces will be set up. New this year: the directly connected “steinexpo MEET” zone at Pavilion 2, forming part of a revamped food and hospitality concept. This welcoming space invites visitors to recharge indoors or on a terrace with views of the exhibition grounds.

At the heart of steinexpo remains the live mobile equipment demonstrations on Demo Area A, located at the deepest level of the quarry. For quick access, visitors can use a scenic footpath or take the much-loved lift that swiftly transports the bold to the next level, Demo Area B. This upper level will host the brand-new “steinexpo VILLAGE,” a culinary hotspot serving a variety of food and drinks with panoramic views over the quarry and live demo activities.

Demo Area C will be smaller than in 2023—due to the natural progression of quarrying—but no less impactful. Shuttle buses will once again ensure easy and comfortable access to this upper level.

To enhance the visitor experience, steinexpoCAM and the steinexpoAPP are both being upgraded, offering better orientation and planning tools before and during the event.

A key innovation for 2026: the “Quarry Vision 2.6” concept, inspired by the event year. Under the theme “Quarry Next Gen – We’re In,” participating exhibitors will spotlight their most forward-looking ideas—from advanced machinery and prototypes to smart technologies—right at their own stands. The focus here is on innovation, not necessarily market-ready products. A wealth of ideas and inventiveness should show what we can expect in the future and encourage exchange. Clearly marked exhibitor booths will make it easy for visitors to explore the Quarry Vision trail—and those who engage actively can take part in a contest under the motto “Collect Points, Discover Visions.”

Another returning initiative is “Think BIG!” from the VDMA e.V., aimed at inspiring the next generation to explore technical careers and education pathways, while also promoting the industry’s modern image.

The On-Site-Meeting left a strong impression. Several companies that had not yet secured space made on-the-spot commitments. “The high level of interest in the 12th edition of steinexpo is very encouraging,” said Show Director Dominik Rese. “Together with our exhibitors, we’re creating an event that delivers exceptional value.”

From September 2 to 5, 2026, the international raw and raw materials and building materials industry will once again convene for this extraordinary live event featuring the proven “at work” concept—in the dynamic setting of the MHI basalt quarry in Nieder-Ofleiden.
