Press Release 6

“Wow effects” through Quarry Vision

February 2020: At the upcoming steinexpo, the "Quarry Vision" pay-off line will be the central theme running through the entire event as an interconnecting thread. A sector innovation park newly integrated into the concept represents the essence of innovative visions. Pilot machines and plants, future-oriented products and services can be marvelled at on site and in some cases can even be experienced live in action. "Quarry Vision" will receive its own corporate design within the demonstration trade fair and will represent the future-oriented nature of the industry with guaranteed "wow" effects.

This year's international demonstration trade fair for the raw materials and building materials industry has many new features and innovations in store. For the first time, an industry innovation park under the "Quarry Vision" banner is sure to cause a stir. Placing it in the area immediately after the entrance area and the press centre guarantees that nobody will overlook this special feature, as visitors must automatically pass by this area of the exhibition terrain.

The Quarry Vision area provides exhibitors with the opportunity to present future innovations that are not necessarily ready for the market yet, either in action or statically, but still “hands-on”. The focus is on highly intelligent machines, vehicles and services, whose advanced data networking gives rise to extended possibilities compared to the current state of the art in separate use and in interaction with other intelligent machines.

Fully automated technology of the future

Research on autonomous construction vehicles has been in full swing for years. In the meantime, concrete results have been achieved which are quite respectable.

So, for example, Volvo CE has developed a concept study of an autonomous battery-powered load carrier as part of the “Electric Site” research project – the first fully electrified stone quarry. With the "HX02" prototype, carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced by up to 98% and energy costs have been cut by up to 70%. This solution impressively demonstrates its performance in terms of environmental protection, efficiency, safety and economy.

Other manufacturers are also pushing the development of autonomous construction machinery to make their use safer and to ensure consistent and efficient performance in output and production. In future, only refuelling and maintenance work will lead to short interruptions in the service time. Intelligent, highly networked on-board systems take over control of the machines.

The future becomes reality
Interest in the digitisation and automation of construction machinery and plant technology has grown tremendously in the industry, as it is becoming increasingly important for companies to mine and extract raw materials as productively as possible, to increase the safety of use in hazardous areas and to reduce operating costs, including in processing.

Visitors to the innovation park can look forward to seeing which developments could become reality in the future. The fact that there is still more potential than seemed possible a few years ago is underlined by those exhibits which bear the “marketable" seal as novel innovations and which dominate the trade fair events in all other areas of the MHI quarry.

More space and stronger theme optimisation

Due to the high demand, we are currently working on offering alternative areas to provide additional possibilities for individual live demonstrations of the handling and processing of basalt. Certain areas on demo area B are currently being "upgraded” for this purpose.

It will also be the first time that the pavilions will be located on level B as well as level C. This provides the advantage of tailoring the offer in the pavilions to match the theme that is the focus of the respective level. On level B, the focus at the upcoming steinexpo will be on mobile equipment from all the relevant construction machinery sectors and the corresponding accessories. Mineral processing technology is bundled together on level C.

Two lifts on the terrain connecting levels B and C will shorten the distances between exhibition areas for visitors. They will be supplemented by bus shuttles that continuously commute between levels B and C.

Always up to date with WhatsApp-Business

Geoplan GmbH, the organiser of steinexpo, runs a WhatsApp-Business broadcast for all current information and news about the trade fair. This not only generates a steady flow of information in advance, but also provides information about important events such as demonstrations during the trade fair.

To register for this information channel, interested parties simply need to send a message with the keyword "Newsletter" to +49 (0)157/35 74 02 68 to automatically receive all news about steinexpo 2020 directly on their smartphone.

Online ticket shop from March

Tickets for the demonstration fair can be conveniently purchased online after the ticket shop opens. The online ticket portal will be open from March 2020 and will remain so for the entire duration of the fair. Online registration is guaranteed until the last day of the fair.

Good news for young visitors in particular: children up to the age of 14 get free admission to the fair when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

steinexpo: As the biggest and most significant stone quarry demonstration exhibition on the European continent, the steinexpo had its premiere in the Nieder-Ofleiden stone quarry in September 1990. The trade fair is held in a three-year cycle. By means of impressive live demonstrations against the backdrop of a magnificent stone quarry, manufacturers and dealers of building and processing machinery, utility vehicles and heavy vehicles as well as plants for reclamation and treatment of materials put their performance capabilities on display. The recycling of mineral building materials represents another focus point. The steinexpo is organised by Geoplan GMBH, Iffezheim.
